Distance: 9km

Elevation gain: 968m

Time required: 5-6 hours

Evans Peak is a relatively small mountain in Golden Ears Provincial Park, sitting at 1120m. It was a short and easy day hike for me.

The forest in Golden Ears is my favourite forest in the whole world. The moss-covered trees and rich sword fern understory look especially beautiful with dappled sunlight shining through it.

From the West Canyon parking lot, I started on the West Canyon trail before shortly turning left onto the Evans Peak trail. This trail climbs fairly steadily through the forest all the way to the summit. It took me 2.5 hours.

Allouete Lake. On the left in the foreground sits Mount Nutt North and Mount Nutt South peaks. Mount Robie Reid is in background.

It was a quick 2 hours back to the parking lot. Fairly uneventful but great views of some of the peaks and valleys in Golden Ears Park and beyond.
